Supporting a Hanging Material Handling System with a Custom Steel Structure
Our client needed a structural system to support a complex hanging garment system without impacting operational floor space or causing downtime. The design required multiple levels, unrestricted equipment movement, and seamless integration with an existing concrete platform.
Profielnorm engineered a bespoke mezzanine consisting of two parts: a four-level main steel tower with wooden flooring, kickplates, and safety handrails on the bottom three levels, while the top level supported the hanging system; and a secondary single-level steel frame above the concrete platform for additional equipment.
To meet the garment system’s needs, purlins were modified with extra connection points, and a special load factor design ensured safe distribution on the concrete base. A unique stability system eliminated traditional cross bracing, providing 100% clear space beneath the mezzanine for unhindered operations.
