A sky-high challenge for Profielnorm
At Profielnorm, we regularly tackle ambitious mezzanine projects—but this one truly stood out for its height and complexity. Our client, already familiar with Profielnorm's quality from a previous collaboration through one of our key partners, entrusted us once again—this time with a unique challenge: designing and building a multi-tier mezzanine over 60 feet tall. While the surface area of 53,800 ft² wasn't unusually large, the real test was engineering a structure that could safely reach such an extraordinary height.
Supporting five full floors on a standard concrete slab required careful load distribution. Our in-house engineering team collaborated closely with the client to develop a reinforced baseplate system with welded reinforcements, ensuring stability without exceeding floor limits.
The mezzanine also had to support conveyors, carefully integrated to accommodate walking lines and workflow. Beam profiles and heights were calculated precisely for optimal strength and usability. Two five-story stairwells were fitted with custom anti-slip plates for long-term safety.
