Maximizing Space for a High-Tech Distribution Center
For a leading company in supply chain solutions, Profielnorm delivered a range of custom mezzanine floor constructions for a new, state-of-the-art distribution center. The facility spans over 400,000 square feet and stores over 150,000 products—mainly perfumes—with nearly 5 miles of conveyors running throughout.
In hall number 2, we installed two mezzanine platforms, each about 6.5 feet high, to support a sorter system. Together, they cover roughly 6,460 square feet and use open grating floors. An additional 1,940-square-foot structure supports conveyors in the same hall. To ensure easy access around the sorter, we built a 207-foot-long elevated catwalk at the same height.
In hall 3, we installed a large mezzanine spanning over 22,800 square feet, standing more than 15.5 feet tall. It includes a mix of wood and grated flooring, along with stairs, pallet gates, and railings for safety. This platform supports another sorter and several workstations tied into the client's automated shuttle system.
We also added a second platform in this hall, about 4,100 square feet in size and 16.4 feet high, to support more conveyors. A highlight of Hall 3 is the custom skywalk—66 feet long and suspended over 30 feet of open space—to connect to another mezzanine nearly 26 feet above the ground.
Finally, in hall 4, we built a 7,965-square-foot mezzanine at a height of 15.5 feet. It combines wood and grating surfaces, with workstations both on top and underneath, all connected to the shuttle system.
To complete the setup, we installed multiple stairs and step-overs to ensure smooth, safe access throughout the facility.
